Worrisome issue: Herpes is more worrisome in some respects than some std's.Spread of the germ to a baby prior to or during delivery may result in a devastating neonatal encephalitis that leads to death or permanent disability. A new case acquired after the kids birth is unlikely to affect breast feeding unless s/he has contact with lesions. The germ stays away from your fallopian tubes so sterility is unlikely.

Please do not worry : Herpes is a virus that can be passed on to the baby only during the birth process. Herpes does not cause infertility and can't be transmitted through the breast milk.
