A member asked:

Child has lump on top of head in middle is it just where it fused together she is nearly 2?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"metopic ridge": The skull is formed by five plates which move a little to allow the head to fit out at birth. There is a ridge or divot that runs from the top of the head toward the nose, called the metopic suture, at a joint between two of the plates. This sticks up a little in lots of children, prob a family trait. If her head is growing normally, it is prob ok--your doc can check and advise.
