No: An occasional short night sleep does not affect you health. However, a chronic, constant sleep deprivation of one hour leads to 30h (>1day!) missed restorative night time sleep. Chronic sleep deprivation is associated with increased risk of stroke, heart attacks and early death.

No: If you are sleeping the amount your body needs for your age and then cut back you will have sleep deprivation that is a bad thing to have.
