Yes: If you feel a lump, the best way to evaluate it is with an ultrasound. Also if your surgeon feels the lump, then he/she may be able to give you his/her opinion on if there is a concern. Feeling lumps in the breast is not uncommon but it may be normal breast tissue. Hope this helps.

Yes: Across the board, mammography is about 80% sensitive for detecting breast cancer, so there are cancers it doesn't detect. Sensitivity is higher in women with fatty breasts, lower in dense breasts.
