How do doctors typically check your lungs?

Examination: We listen, feel and sometimes look. We use the stethoscope to listen to the breath sounds. Sometimes we assess the lungs by thumping on the chest and/or feel the quality of the vibrations transmitted. The other technique is to look by way of a chest x-ray.
