Eating too much: Weight gain is the result of taking in more calories than you use. Some medications can lead to weight gain. And some people gain weight due to hypothyroidism, but this is uncommon. Eating in response to anxiety or stress is a very common cause of weight gain.

Weight gain. : Medical conditions aside, weight gain can generally be due to (1) eating more daily calories than your body requires, (2) lack of sufficient daily physical activity - exercise - to use extra ingested calories, (3) slowing of metabolism which occurs with age, (4) not enough sleep.
