How important is protein in your diet?

Extremely: Our tissues are made of protein. Muscles, hair, joints, blood, skin are all proteins. Without protein in the diet, the body will waste away its own muscles.

Need it: Protein is needed for repair of damage cells, tissues and turnover of the hair, skin, intestines etc. You should have at least 10% of your diet as protein- or for an adult about 1 gram of protein for every 2 pounds of weight.
