Locally desinfect: Some infections are local infection that is they stay in one area, such as in your case; however, in some occasion this type of infection may spread and become more dangerous, if it is local then, it can be cleaned with either peroxide or iodine, but if you develop fever, and your belly button become very red, warm to touch then you look for medical attention.

See doc: if there is indeed an infection, you should be treated appropriately. sometime, however, what appears to be infected is simply an allergic reaction to the piercing material, esp nickel or gold. this would be called a contact dermatitis and treated differently than an infection. see a dermatologist to be evaluated.
