Limited: Social workers are generally not trained in the medical aspects of care. They are generally knowlegable about the practice of medicine and the protocols of medicine but they do not practice medicien. Their expertise is in helping to arrange for medical care & getting patients and their family through the medical care maze. They help find financial support & social support. They are invaluable!

Social Workers: Clinical Social Workers may have a great deal of psychological knowledge. Although most social workers don't receive much in the way of formal medical (non-behavioral health)education, medical social workers can learn a great deal by being a member of the treatment team. The medical social worker handles many non-medical tasks.
