Hearing check: Typanometry measures how well the eardrum moves. It is a great way to pick up fluid behind the eardrum which is common with colds, sinus issues, allergies, and as a result of an ear infection. If a child has a normal eardrum and a chronic problem on tympanometry the child may benefit form an ENT evaluation. It is a useful tool to monitor recovery form ear infections as well.
