Progesterone: Progesterone may help the bleeding. I doubt it will reduce their size. Lupron (leuprolide) is a temporary medicine to help reduce the size, but has many side effects.

Depends on what : You mean by alternative medicines. Hysterectomy is the most common treatment option in patients with symptomatic fibroids (i.E bleeding and pain) however there are other less invasive alternatives that truly depend on your unique symptomatology and other findings. These include, uterine artery ablation, ultrasound focused destruction, to hormonal medications. I am not aware of any herbals though.
