Clot can form: Most stents are placed by experienced cardiologists who know precisely how to pick appropriately sized stents and expand then to appropriate diameters. Once in a while a smaller stent can be placed in a larger vessel. If this is not properly expanded, risk of clot formation in the stent is increased.

If too small: If too small, can migrate (move) or clot off more easily ... Usually not a problem with being too big ...
