Geographic tongue?: You may have something called geographic tongue. In that case there are areas of denuded papillae that appear bald. These areas tend to appear and disappear over time. If that is what you have, it is benign and needs no treatment or concern. See the photo alongside. It is always best to see a dentist for a clinical exam to determine the exact diagnosis in case it is something else!
