Yes. It gets better.: Costochondritis is a condition causing chest pains due to inflammation of the cartilages which connect the ribs to the breastbone (sternum). It is most common in young women and is often confused with pain from the heart. The outlook is very good and usually anti-inflammatory medicines will decrease the discomfort.

Yes: Costochondritis pain is caused by inflammation of the junction between the rib and cartilage attached to it. It can usually be relieved by Ibuprofen or other nonsteroidal pain medications. It can sometimes be chronic, but more often flares up and then fades like a cold.
