Prevention: Topomax, like many other seizure medications, is used to prevent or decrease the severity and frequency of migraine headaches.

Prevention: We do not know how it works but it is supposed to help keep you from getting them. Usually this is used in a combo with a "triptan" medicine (ex imitrex) that you use when you do get a headache.
