Yes: If you are not currently taking a statin, it is ok to eat grapefruit. Niacin is generally safe, but fairly ineffective as an LDL lowerer. Niacin use has not been correlated to improved outcomes. Statins, lik lipitor, (atorvastatin) can significantly reduce your chance of stroke or heart attack.
