Get evaluated.: Your physician will need to perform a detailed history, physical exam, and lab tests to work up what sounds to be a complicated medical history with prior kidney issues. Pain, nausea, & vomiting are often symptoms of an obstructed kidney, and though renal colic transmitted by coughing is rare, can also be due to obstruction. After evaluation, you may need to see a kidney or urologic specialist.
