having acid indigestion and heartburn while eating since 5 days. how to treat acid indigestion? what type of food to eat and what to avoid?

In addition to following the above dietary discretions, also can use OTC prepartiona like maalox for heartburn. If not helpful can try OTC medication prilosec 20mg tab twice a day for 1-2 wks. If symptoms don't go away consult your doctor. Maalox can cause potentially constipation because of the aluminium salt in addition to magnesium salt .Hence take plenty of water . Avoid OTC pain medications like aspirin,motrin,aleeve etc. Maalox is to be avoided in kidney disease patients with creatinine of 1.8 above because of its poor excretion.
