Myriad of Reasons...: There could be numerous explanations for the numbness in your arms upon awakening. Zzzquil's active ingredient is Diphenhydramine (generic for benadryl). If you are falling asleep in awkward positions, you may compress the nerves in your arms. Also, if you have obstructive sleep apnea, the zzzquil may cause respiratory suppression/depression. Please speak w/ your pcp.

See below: You need to find out the reason for your insomnia. Talk to you primary care doctor to figure out why you can't sleep. Meanwhile, practice sleep hygiene, stress management, self-care. Taking otc meds is just temporary solution. Good luck!
