37 yr female has thalassemia trait. on two occassions each time wearing surgical mask for 40 minutes each time i experienced numbness in hands feet and arms up to shoulders ,short of breath, could the mask be the culprit due to thalassemia trait?

More likely hyperventilation and / or anxiety. Unless you are symptomatically anemic, a mask would not at all provoke these symptoms. It is helpful to know your baseline Hemoglobin level for reference.
