Fluid into Uterus: Ultrasound guides needle into amniotic cavity around baby. Fluid can then be instilled into uterus. Used for definitive diagnosis of membrane rupture by instillation of Indigo Carmine dye and then observation of vaginal fluid for blue color. Also used on occasion for therapy of oligohydramnios (low amniotic fluid).
