Modality Ultrasound : Ultrasound is safe, quick, effective and relatively inexpensive tool to evaluate for fluid, gas, blood flow, inflammation and stones in the abdominal cavity. Ultrasound is one of several modalities from the radiology department. Other modalities: x-rays, angiograms, nuclear studies, and mri/ct scanning. Many health care providers can perform an abdominal ultrasound to expedite patient diagnosis.

Diagnostic test: An ultrasound of the abdomen is a diagnostic test using sound waves. It is used to diagnose a number of different conditions. It is the best test to evaluate the gallbladder. Usually you will have fast the day of the test. It is painless and you should be able to watch the images as they do it.
