Yes: There are small vessels on the surface of the brain that can rupture with moderate/severe blows to the head. This can lead to slow bleeding and could be fatal if not recognized and treated.

Yes: Generally fatal blows to the head cause bleed or enough injury to raise pressure in the head enough to damage brain. In older adults, the brain shrinks. The bridging veins that connect the skull to the brain get stretched and are prone to tearing from minor bumps or falls. This causes subdural hematoma, which can grow enough to cause damage and death.
