BPD: Bpd is bronchopulmonary dysplasia, which often affects children born prematurely. Children with bpd may need more frequent breathing treatments than other children, and often require follow-up with a pediatric pulmonoogist.

BiParietal Diameter: Providers who do fetal imaging by ultrasound often use bpd to refer to biparietal diameter, a measure of the width of the fetal head. Dr. Popler is also correct. Once the baby is born, those of us in maternal-fetal medicine use bpd to refer to the older term for the lung condition our colleagues in neonatology and pediatrics treat in some premature infants.
