Very good: Whether you are talking about prenatal (before the baby is born) or postnatal (after the baby is born) evaluation, ultrasound is very good at "seeing" blood within the ventricular space of the brain (ivh). Of course, very small amounts of bleeding may be missed, regardless of imaging technique used.

Very good: A screening head ultrasound (hus) in a premature infant is a very good test to detect the presence of intraventricular hemorrhage (ivh). If an ivh is present, the hus will detect it close to all of the time.
