Sorry : Sorry to hear about your son's troubles. However if he is truly destitute, take him to a hospital dental residency program and they will help him sign up for medicaid. In addition, there are volunteer clinics in every state. The information is available on line. Best of luck, .

You : You are correct that some individuals have died as a result of severe dental infections that spread to the brain or heart/lungs. It is for that reason that your son needs to seek dental care immediately. Contact you state dental association (not dental board) and inquire as to the availability of clinics that can accommodate his needs and inability to pay. Most other options require some type of payment, albeit at a reduced rate. You can contact local dental schools to see if they have a program that he would qualify for. If his condition deteriorates it will be come a medical emergency and he could face both a life threatening infection and significant medical bills.

Drs : Drs funari and kaufman advised you well to seek care. Left untreated, these problems can cause major health issues. University of florida, gainseville is about an hours drive north of you. They have a dental school that can treat your son and little or no cost. Give them a call and find out your options. In addition, you can contact social services in your county for additional guidance. Best of luck to you.

Get help: You can't afford not to treat his problems. Dental problems can become life threatening. Seek care at a dental school or at a dental clinic. Ask your local emergency room for referral. Ask your dentist about extended payment plan.

Dentists can Help!: The photo above is the pennsylvania dental association's mission of mercy event held this past spring, where we treated nearly 2, 000 individuals like your son at no charge! these events are occurring all over the country. Investigate where they are and get your son the help he needs! you may have to travel and camp to hold a place in line, but the dental care is free! good luck!

Dont wait: I would look into a dental school clinic in your area. They will often have reduced fees and emergency clinics to help alleviate his pain. Other options may be payment plans. It is important to get the work done soon as generally the longer you wait to more expensive it gets to restore.
