Which id better kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty for repair 2 sided compression fracture no pain lying. severe pain when sitting or standing in pt in 90s

Vertebroplasty : Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty are procedures that treat vertebral compression fractures with injecting liquid plastic. Kyphoplasty has an additional step of creating a space prior to injection. Occasionally you can get a little reduction of the fracture with kyphoplasty. It is controversial which one is better. Equivalent: Both procedure have the same efficacy. Some believe you can get some vertebral body height restoration with kyphoplasty. I have not seen this. The needs to perform kyphoplasty are larger than for vertebroplasty.
