If : If the child had conditions such as chronic otitis ear or "cement ear" which impaired his or her hearing, then improvement in these conditions may well allow the child to make up for delays. This happened with one of my children. He was always quiet (very non-verbal), but after he had pe tubes, he began talking up a storm and singing.

Transient conductive: hearing loss can delay speech & language only while it exists. Persistent expressive &/or receptive language disorder, a neurodevelopmental disorder with an underlying genetic or other medical cause, ^es risk of dyslexia. Speech sound disorder does not ^ risk of dyslexia. See your school district's Child Find Team for Early Childhood Special Ed. & a developmental/behavioral pede. for evaluation.
