Routine : Routine nerve conduction tests don't check every nerve in the feet. If symptoms are related to the intensity of repetitive activity, such as walking, they may be caused by compression of smaller branch nerves that are not routinely tested by most neurologists. These nerves are frequently affected by footwear that doesn't fit as well as it should. In some cases, nerves anywhere from the spine down to the toes can get temporarily stretched or pinched in ways that are only apparent when the posture (such as being upright) or activity (such as walking) is occurring, and not in the usually lying and still position used in most tests. A podiatrist, a doctor who specializes in only the feet, may be a good place to get information and recommendations.
