My mother just had knee sergery and just came home i think she is addicted to the pain pills she is a recovering alcoholic she is on oxycodone and percocete what can i do and how do i know is she is realy addicted

Hello. : Hello. I would talk with her provider and relay your concerns. Doctors may not be able to share medical information with you (without your mother's written consent) however they can accept information. Often patients don't tell the prescribing physician about their addictions.

Drug addiction: If your mother is currently recovering from knee surgery there may be a need for narcotics until she is fully recovered. Once recovered with the support she has in you she should be able to decrease the use of the narcotics and get better. If this is not the case after a reasonable recovery time she may need additional professional help.
