Yes. : Yes. Even with depression, people can feel happy some of the time. Most teenagers also go through very difficult times, which isn't necessarily depression. You might want to talk to a school counselor, who could give you input about whether this sounds like teenage roller coaster emotions or if you might have a clinical depression. The counselor could help point you in the right direction.

DEPRESSION: Get an evaluation from a psychiatrist to help identify what depression means to this person and whatever else may be bothering him/her. Consider recommendations for medication if any are given. Get a referral for a reputable psychotherapist to speak with. Meds and therapy combined are most optimal; no just one or the other.
