Hi. : Hi. You don't sound very happy. I cannot make a diagnosis. However, you might have depression. Feeling sad and questioning why you are alive can be symptoms of depression. If you have depression, you would be likely to feel unhappy (sad, angry, irritable, scared) for much of the time. You might be doing more poorly in school. Sleeping too much or too little and eating too much or too little can also occur. Isolating from friends, losing your motivation and not experiencing pleasure are also common. You might feel helpless or hopeless; or maybe you don't like yourself as much. Feeling guilty when you don't need to can happen. Some times a person who is depressed, might have thoughts that they want to be dead or thoughts of killing themself. Please let your parents know how you are feeling. They can have a doctor evaluate you, to see if you are experiencing the ups and downs of a pre-teen or if this is more serious. Additionally, most schools have counselors that you can see for free. You said that you ask yourself why you are alive. If you feel like you want to kill youself, you need to let your parents know right away and then you will need to get emergency help. If you do have depression, you are taking the first step to getting well by writing in this question. This can get better. Take care.

Sad: First have a complete physical with a Primary Care Physician to rule out any underlying illness that may be causing these feelings. If you are not ill, then it would be good to consult with a Clinical Psychologist for psychotherapy to feel better and you may want to add medication from a Psychiatrist.
