Multiple : Multiple sclerosis should not be an issue for either a general anesthetic or a local anesthetic with sedation.

Every : Every patient is different, but generally speaking you should be safe with IV sedation and good local combination anesthesia. Good luck from nyc. For more info visit www.Drgrossman.Com.

Probably safe: You will need to get your neurologist's approval to undergo anesthesia. It also depends on the medication you are taking at the time of your surgery. Steroids will have an adverse effect on healing.

MS: Tummy tuck is an outpatient procedure. Assuming you are not a pulmonary cripple , you can undergo your aesthetic procedure without concern for anesthesia. It is the surgery that you should be concerned about.

Yes: Patients with ms undergo anesthesia every day for a variety of procedures and you should be no different. The surgeon and anesthesiologist will review your history with you to be sure there are no contraindications.

No real problem: Anesthesia really does NOT affect MS in any substantial fashion. However, if you would require prolonged bed rest following any surgical procedure, and you already have challenges with walking due to the MS, you might have a tough time mobilizing again to your prior level of function. Maybe recovery facilitated by physical therapy.

Spinal: Anesthesia may cause MS to worsen after surgery. The spinal cord lacks the normal protective covering and be more susceptible to toxicity of local anesthetics
