Depends on cause: Unfortunately, the short answer is "difficult problem to easily correct permanently." if the incontinence itself is due to an ms exacerbation then, aggressive treatment may return the person to a state of continence if that had existed previous to the worsening phase. If this is part of chronic progression of the ms then, sphincter control must be regained. Bowel rehabilitation may help with this.

Suggestions: Generically, I like to start with increased amounts of fibre into the diet. Would avoid stimulants such as caffeine and also, alcohol. Would want to be certain that there is no added co-morbidity, such as a colonic cancer which can be causing issues.
