Otoplasty : Otoplasty is a cosmetic procedure despite the life altering benefits that can be seen in some patients. More advanced procedures involving auricular reconstruction are discussed in broader terms. Be healthy and be well, james m. Ridgway, md.

Hi : Hi otoplasty is generally considered a cosmetic procedure but can be viewed as a correction of congenital abnormality if corrected at the right age... It is best to check with the coverages of your individual plan for a firm answer to this question.

A : A standard otoplasty ("ear pinning" procedure) is usually cosmetic in nature. Reconstructive otoplasty to rebuild a congenital deformity isn't usually considered cosmetic.
