Pulmonary : Pulmonary function tests are breathing tests to evaluate how the lungs are working and are used to help diagnose why patients are short of breath, have a cough, or how well they might tolerate surgery, along with other reasons. The test can be divided into different sections, depending on what is being tested. A simple blowing test, called spirometry, could be as low as $40 to $50, and the most common three test combination (often called a full pft), could be as little as $150. Medicare pays less than $200 for the full pft combination. Commercial insurances pay up to twice that of medicare. The uninsured rate might be 3-4 times the medicare rates. The cost of this test does vary if done in a doctor's office or a hospital. Often times a person can negotiate for a better rate if they are uninsured.

It : It really depends on the facility. In general bigger hospitals charge more so you should look for smaller clinics. I do spirometry/pfts in my office for about $50 without insurance.
