Yes, : Yes, gingivitis and periodontitis can cause your gums to bleed. This is a warning sign that something is not healthy. You need to make an appointment with a dentist, have a full set of radiographs taken, have a thorough cleaning, and then have yourself re-evaluated for periodontal problems.

Bleeding : Bleeding gums indicate that there is a problem. It may be a dental problem, or it could be a systemic medical issue. Start with your dentist, as this is the most likely person to assist you in finding out what's going on. If your dentist believes that it is a form of gum disease, he/she will treat it and show you what you need to do to prevent its return. If it is beyond a dental issue, you will be referred for a medical evaluation.

Bleeding gums: A hallmark of gum disease. If treated early is entirely reversible. The longer you wait, the more extensive (expensive) it will be to treat. Bleeding gums also see in conditions such as diabetes, leukemia, GERD, blood dyscrasias, brushing too hard or with a medium-hard bristled toothbrush, missed professional cleanings, etc. Please call your Dentist for an appointment.
