Hello. : Hello. He may be ensuring that the foreskin is mobile, that it is not so tight that it can't be pulled back. He may be also checking for inflammation, infection and to insure that the area can be reached for proper hygiene. I do know that when i worked with submarines and did physical exams on thousands of men, that if i was concerned about something, that i would be likely to evaluate it more thoroughly. In : In the absence of symptoms, there is no reason for the doctor to retract your grandson's foreskin. Pulling the foreskin back before it is ready, can result in pain, swelling, bleeding and possibly scarring. The foreskin will loosen up naturally sometime between birth and puberty. If it is not retractable by puberty, he should see a physician for evaluation.
