Hello. : Hello. This sounds like a possible epigastric hernia. A midline hernia between the belly button and the bottom of the breast bone. They usually don't contain loops of bowel. However, if the contents every pouch out and can't be gently poked back in with your finger, than this needs immediate medical attention. You would need to be medically evaluated to obtain a definitive diagnosis.

Your : Your symptoms are classic for a hernia. If it is immediately above the belly button, we would consider it an umbilical hernia; if it's closer to the upper abdomen, we call it an epigastric hernia. Regardless, if it is small, reducible, and not causing symptoms, it may be watched rather than repaired at this time. I suggest that you seek out the opinion of a hernia surgeon to perform the appropriate evaluation.
