I : I am not sure if the pharmacist can give you an emergency refill, since the doctor is no longer alive to write the prescription after the fact. Emergency rooms are not appropriate for this purpose. However here are two suggestions- 1. Make appointment with another doctor explaining how much medication you have left or 2. See an acute care clinic. Good luck.

A : A pharmacy cannot issue medications if a prescription or refill order is not available. If the doctor is part of a group practice contact the office and ask another physician to review you record and issue a prescription as indicate. If the doctor was the sole practitioner inquire if another physician has either purchased the practice or has agreed to take on the care of his patients. An emergency room visit may be an expensive way to obtain a refill. You might consider a "minute clinic" which is designed to treat non-emergent medical conditions.
