Maybe nerve issue: Perhaps it's the position that you are sleeping which cause the arm to go numb? Usually when the arm is open and out-stretched, it's more likely to cause nerve compression in the neck and shoulder region. I would still recommend you to see a doctor for check-up. You can try to enroll in the county health care system if there is one available in your county. It does offer cheaper medical costs.
