The : The biggest concern is whether any damage has occurred to the underlying cartilage which provides support for the soft tissues. Cartilage has no internal blood supply do it does not repair itself well when injured or infected. A second concern is the development of an infection, especially MRSA which is difficult to treat and can cause significant tissue damage. The area should be cleaned with soap and water then a topical skin antibiotic ointment should be applied. If the area should become red, swollen or sore in a few days you should see your physician.
