Pain and numb: Sounds like a neuropathy. This can have many causes. Need to see a neurologist.

Neuropathy: Sounds like you might have peripheral neuropathy which is most commonly caused by diabetes (especially when painful) but other causes include liver and kidney dysfunction, thyroid disease. Vitamin B12 deficiency, abnormal anitbodies/proteins, alcohol, and about 300 other causes.

If it is positional: As in standing or walking, i would look into a problem with your lower back. Likely, there is a herniated disc or radiculopathy of some sort at the lower lumber, sacral region. Emg/ncv studies may be helpful, as might an MRI of the lumbar/sacral region.
