Pain : Pain is relative and everyone has a different experience. I do not think it matters what kind of liposuction machine is used to perform the procedure. If you have it performed under just local anesthetic, then it will hurt during the procedure. If you are sedated, then the procedure will not hurt while it is being performed.

Pain : Pain during and after smartlipo will depend upon the size of the area treated, volume resected, the anesthetic technique, pain tolerance, medications prescribed and many other factors.

Tolerable: Pain is relative, everyone responds differently. That being said, most people tolerate smart lipo very well while awake with only an oral pain medication prior. We use tumescent anesthesia, where a numbing fluid is injected into the area to be treated prior to the laser treatment. This portion of the procedure is somewhat uncomfortable, but after that pain is minimal.
