Laser Lipolysis: Smartlipo is a trade name for a type of liposuction where the fat is melted with a laser through a 2mm wide wand inserted in the subcutaneous fat. The proported benefits are less bruising and skin tightening from the heat generated by the laser. I have been using it for a few months now and there does seem to be less bruising. Skin tightening is hard to assess presently but it looks promising.

The laser fiber is fired inside the fat to, perhaps, assist in the liquidfying of the fat and then the traditional suction of fat through cannulas is performed.
