What kind of anesthesia do doctors use for otoplasty? i'm worried that if i have an otoplasty with local anesthesia, i might move at the wrong time during the surgery. can i request general?

You : You don't have to have only local anesthesia if you don't want to. If you want you can have IV sedation or general anesthesia instead.

One : One suggestion, if you do opt for a general anaesthetic, is to discuss with your anaesthesiologist the possibility of laryngeal mask anaesthesia (lma). Patients typically wake up easier from this form of airway management without the irritative effects of endotracheal intubation.

See below: Usually this is not done with local anesthesia alone. The surgeon will usually request sedation anesthesia or possibly a general. Talk to your doctor before the procedure to discuss the options.
