Periodontitis?: A dental infection can produce swollen lymph nodes and sore gums. The infection may be from the gums and bone surrounding the teeth (periodontal) or it may be from an infected pulp (nerve) found inside of the tooth. A dentist can diagnose and treat this problem.

Too many reason: Swollen glands usually mean your body is trying to make white blood cell to flight infection. Sore gums can mean many things. If you have deep pockets around your teeth where bacteria can accumulate and form biofilm then it could definitely trigger swollen glands.

DDS (& MD?): See your dentist to evaluate and treat your sore gums. You might also have to see your physician for the swollen glands if it is non-dental in origin. That's it. Simple, isn't it?
