Ask : Ask to be tested for mononucleosis. This is a common cause of elevated liver enzymes, even after the symptoms of mono have resolved. Otherwise follow up with a liver specialist for further investigation/work up.

Prevention : Consult a gastroenterologist. Don't take any medication that has acetaminophen, no alcohol, review all medications, including OTC and herbal remedies with your GI doc.
