How long does it take to lose weight once you are no longer on zyprexa (olanzapine)? i am bipolar and weigh 189 i used to weigh 125. this is very stressful. i am still taking lithium 750mg once aday.

Everyone : Everyone is different in this regard but if the weight came on with the zyprexa, (olanzapine) in my experience with patients, it comes off over 1-2 months after you stop it. Working on cutting down on calories, not drinking caloric beverages (like regular pop, juices, etc) and regular physical activity should help.

Time: Zyprexa (olanzapine) induced weight gain generally evolves over weeks to months. When appropriate discontinuing zyprexa (olanzapine) can make weight management easier but effort is still needed regarding diet and exercise.
