As : As long as she is passing stool regularly without bleeding or pain, it is fine. If she is continuing to have pain when she poops or if there is blood on the outside of the stool or on the toilet paper when she wipes, contact her doctor. She may need a different medication in order to achieve regular, soft stools. Other things you can do to help are to encourage her to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water. Good luck!

Stool retention/diet: Kids often to try avoiding stooling if they ever had a painful experience. They do not understand how this hurts them in the long haul by causing large/harder stools. A diet rich in vegies & fiber helps.Avoid constipators like apples, pasta & junk food. Encourage more fluid intake and regular and complete emptying. I prefer a stool softener like miralax but mineral oil works.
